Apart from inaugurating the ready projects of Rewa (Madhya Pradesh), Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh) and Sarsawa (Saharanpur, UP) airports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay foundation for the expansion of Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport here and its new terminal building as well as Bagdogra (West Bengal), Darbhanga (Bihar), and Agra airports during his proposed visit to his parliamentary constituency on Oct 20.
As per the final list of projects ready for inauguration and for laying of foundation stone, the PM will gift a total of 23 projects worth Rs 6,611.18 crore, including the projects for the country’s 7 airports during his stay here, said Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma while talking to TOI on Wednesday.The cost of the projects for the expansion of LBSI Airport, construction of its new terminal building and allied works is Rs 2,870 crore, said officials, mentioning that the cost of the New Civil Enclave Bagdogra Airport will be Rs 1,550 crore, New Civil Enclave Darbhanga Airport Rs 912 crore and New Civil Enclave Agra Airport will be Rs 579 crore.
Apart from these projects, the PM will also lay the foundation for construction of an academic block and girls’ hostel in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at Arajiline which will be built here at a cost of Rs 4.17 crore.
The ready projects, which will be inaugurated by the PM, will include new terminal buildings of Rewa Airport worth Rs 91 crore, Maa Mahamaya Airport Ambikapur worth Rs 80.32 crore and New Civil Enclave, Sarsawa Airport worth Rs 54.56 crore.
For his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi, the PM will inaugurate 14 ready projects worth Rs 380.13 crore, including redevelopment of Varanasi Sports Complex Sigra worth Rs 216.29 crore, pro-poor tourism development work at Sarnath worth Rs 90.20 crore, a hostel at CIPET premises, Karsara worth Rs 13.78 crore, 100-bed girls’ and boys’ hostels, a public pavilion in Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Sports Stadium, Lalpur worth Rs 12.99 crore, beautification and redevelopment of 20 parks worth Rs 7.85 crore, advanced high-tech labs at Women ITI, Chaukaghat and ITI, Karaudi worth Rs 7.08 crore, barracks in Central Jail worth Rs 6.67 crore, Plastic Waste Management Centre at CIPET Karsara worth Rs 6 crore, tourism development work of Banasur and Gurudham temples worth Rs 6.02 crore, 48 staff housing units at Central Jail worth Rs 5.16 crore, Town Hall shopping complex worth Rs 2.51 crore, residential buildings in PHC Bharthra worth Rs 2.16 crore, Community Health Centre at Chiraigaon worth Rs 1.93 crore and an activity zone and parking under Kakarmatta flyover worth Rs 1.49 crore.Besides, a private project for construction of RJ Shankara Eye Hospital worth Rs 90 crore will also be inaugurated by the PM.
