PM Modi inaugurated final stretch of Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar Metro Phase-II

On January 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the final segment of Phase II of the Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar Metro, thereby completing an essential transport connection between the two cities.

This new 7.8 km stretch, extending from Sector 10A to Mahatma Mandir, introduces seven additional stations, enhancing Metro accessibility throughout significant residential and administrative areas.

With this extension, commuters can now travel effortlessly along the full 28 km corridor from Motera in Ahmedabad to Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. During the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Modi launched the service from Mahatma Mandir Metro Station, alongside Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

The expanded network is set to benefit residents from nearly 20 sectors in Gandhinagar and will provide direct access to approximately 60 government offices, thereby decreasing dependence on private vehicles. The Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar Metro, which has been introduced in phases since 2022, has experienced an increase in ridership, currently averaging 1.6 lakh commuters each day.
