Residents of Prayagraj who are looking to purchase property in areas improved during the recent Maha Kumbh can look forward to new opportunities, as the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) is set to provide residential options in these enhanced locations throughout the city.
Under the leadership of PDA vice chairman Amit Pal Sharma, the authority has set up a special team to identify land beside or in the vicinity of the roads that were beautified for the Maha Kumbh. Furthermore, the PDA has initiated efforts to strengthen its ‘land bank’.
In order to ensure that visitors from India and overseas had access to suitable facilities during the recently held Maha Kumbh, the PDA implemented several public welfare initiatives, which involved the expansion and reinforcement of 42 roads. Additionally, numerous areas have been improved with enhanced lighting. To improve the visual appeal and ensure sufficient street illumination, the PDA installed around 2,500 streetlights along these newly developed roads.
Additionally, the enhancement and beautification of 13 key intersections within the city were done to create a pleasing environment for devotees.
Potential locations for housing schemes initiated by the PDA include the inner-ring road, areas that will gain accessibility following the construction of the six-lane bridge over the Ganga, and the vicinity near Prayagraj Airport in Jhalwa. According to sources, the PDA is considering the development of residential projects along Airport Road towards Jhalwa in the upcoming months.
More than 300 flats and over 400 plots could be carved out for a residential scheme. To facilitate this, the PDA aims to acquire approximately 150 to 200 hectares of land in the initial phase. The Vice Chairman stated, “We have commenced the process of identifying all land under our ownership and are working to eliminate any encroachments or legal complications associated with it. Once thoroughly verified, this land will be added to our land bank for future residential and commercial developments.”
