Out of the 13 lakh property tax payers in Chennai, around five lakh residents are yet to pay the tax. The Greater Chennai Corporation has asked residents to pay property tax before the end of March to avoid a penalty of 2%.
After the general revision was effected in 2022, more than eight lakh people had paid their property tax, the civic body said in a statement.
If the residents pay the taxes within the first 15 days of the beginning of the financial year, they would get a 5% incentive.
The corporation said that the residents could pay the taxes through postmen or on the civic body’s website directly or through Pay TM.
