PMC resolves 671 property tax, waste charge complaints in a month

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has identified approximately 370,000 properties with outstanding property taxes totaling between Rs 700 and 800 crore.

BBMP chief commissioner Maheshwar Rao indicated that notices would be resent through SMS and email, urging defaulters to settle their dues without delay.

Special commissioner (revenue) Munish Moudgil remarked that although auction notices have been issued for 6,000 to 7,000 properties, the level of compliance remains insufficient.

In a bid to enforce stricter measures, BBMP now intends to suspend the e-khata accounts of defaulters, thus hindering property sales until all dues are cleared. “The process may take four to five months, but it is imperative for taxpayers to act responsibly,” he stated.
