The government intends to revise existing rules to enhance transparency in land allocation, stated Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday.
During a discussion regarding the general administration department, the Chief Minister indicated that amendments will be made to the Odisha Government Land Settlement Rules, 2020, which regulate the land allocation process, to ensure greater transparency.
As Bhubaneswar experiences rapid development, the Chief Minister noted a significant increase in land prices, which has resulted in encroachments. “The government is closely monitoring the situation and is committed to taking action against any irregularities,” he remarked.
To safeguard govt properties, efforts are underway to identify encroachments, and the eviction process is being accelerated through the Central Enforcement Monitoring Committee, with necessary boundary walls being constructed. A budget of Rs 10.88 crore has been allocated for these initiatives.
