Now, get tax bills & rectify flaws in data at your doorstep

With the exercise underway, residents won’t have to visit MCG’s office to make corrections in the property tax data, MCG officials said.

A private agency hired by MCG has started distributing tax assessment bills to 6.4 lakh property owners, so they can rectify as well as revise the existing data with the corporation on property tax, officials said on Tuesday.

With the exercise underway, residents won’t have to visit MCG’s office to make corrections in the property tax data, MCG officials said.

Workers of the private agency will go door-to-door to property owners and hand them the bills. Any changes or revisions can then be pointed out to the workers, who will note them down to make the corrections to the corporation’s database. The residents will have to provide their correct mobile number, Whatsapp number and email-ID to the staff.

“Residents will have to submit the documents to the staff of the private agency as and when they get the property tax assessment bill, so that the correct data can be updated in the MCG records,” MCG spokesperson SS Rohilla said.

There are 6.4 lakh residential and commercial properties that will be given these assessment notices, which will also include their outstanding property tax dues. The civic body has sought RWAs’ cooperation to facilitate the exercise, and property tax data has been uploaded on the no-dues certificate (NDC) portal.

The dues can be deposited at the citizen facilitation centres (CFCs) besides MCG offices. Officials said that the sewage and water connections of the defaulters’ properties will be disconnected and eventually, the properties will be sealed if taxes aren’t paid.

“The Haryana government has already announced a 15% rebate on property tax for the 2023-24 fiscal year for taxpayers who verify property tax data on their own. Owners can do this on ulbhryndc.org and pay their outstanding dues on the website to avail the discount by September 30,” the spokesperson added.

A survey by a private agency in January last year had found that 5.1 lakh properties came under MCG’s ambit. After the survey was completed, residents had complained that the new property IDs generated had incorrect details, creating a faulty database.
