No decision yet on hike in property tax in Secunderabad

SCB chief executive officer, B Ajith Reddy, who moved this proposal, said that the total consolidated tax rate is 24.6% on residential buildings and 27.6% on commercial buildings.

A decision on proposal for the enhancement of property tax for residential and commercial properties in the Secunderabad Cantonment has been deferred.

SCB chief executive officer, B Ajith Reddy, who moved this proposal, said that the total consolidated tax rate is 24.6% on residential buildings and 27.6% on commercial buildings. He said these rates have not changed in the last 30 years. He proposed to hike house tax by 3%.

Secunderabad Cantonment TRS MLA G Sayanna and SCB nominated member, J Rama Krishna however, urged the president cantonment board (PCB), Secunderabad, Brig K Somashankar that the proposal for enhancement be compared with rates under the neighbouring GHMC.

Accordingly, PCB asked the SCB CEO to carry out a study on property tax being implemented in GHMC and asked for figures to be presented in the next Board meeting. Meanwhile, the Board approved grant of licence to engineers and architects who are already registered to work in SCB.
