NMC serves final notice to owners of 600 dilapidated wadas

The civic body officials said they had already issued the first notice to the owners of all the dilapidated wadas before the monsoon.

Following the directives of Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) administrator Ramesh Pawar, the civic body has served final notices to owners of 600 (out of 1,080) dilapidated wadas and buildings, asking them to vacate the structures or their power and water supply connections would be snapped.

The civic body officials said they had already issued the first notice to the owners of all the dilapidated wadas before the monsoon.

“Now we have started serving the second and final notice, giving an ultimatum of 21 days to vacate wadas or face action,” said officials from the town planning department of the Nashik civic body.

The NMC officials further said that they would soon be serving notices to the owners of the remaining 500 dilapidated wadas. Once the final notices are served, they will start taking action if dilapidated wadas are not vacated.

“There are disputes between owners and tenants. Tenants of the wadas have been residing there for the past many years and they have disputes with the wada owners. So in some cases, tenants are not will to vacate the places. Therefore, the NMC administrator has directed us to snap water and power supply connections of such dilapidated wadas,” said the civic officials.

Nashik city has a total of 1,083 dilapidated wadas, a majority of which are located in the Nashik West division (600). The Panchavati division has 200 dilapidated wadas, while the remaining 283 such wadas and structures are located in the other four divisions of the civic body — Nashik Road, Nashik East, Cidco and Satpur.
