The civic body has included approximately 30,000 new properties within the tax framework for the current financial year. The overall count of registered properties under the Nashik Municipal Corporation(NMC) has now surpassed 600,000.
As stated by a civic official, property tax has been imposed on these newly recognized properties starting from the current fiscal year. “Furthermore, the owners of these properties have been instructed to remit tax for at least the previous two financial years or from the year in which the property’s construction commenced,” the official remarked. “This retrospective evaluation has enabled the NMC to generate an additional Rs30 crore over the past two years.
With these properties now incorporated into the formal tax system, the civic authority anticipates earning an extra Rs15 crore annually from these new units,” the official further noted. The NMC has been undertaking field surveys to identify properties that were occupied or utilized but had never been evaluated for taxation.
Teams from the property tax department have been visiting various neighborhoods to pinpoint unregistered constructions and incorporate them into the tax framework.
