NKDA sets up surveillance team to check encroachment in Kolkata

New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) that had earlier set up a field surveillance team to keep an eye on civic issues in New Town, has restructured it and assigned it to oversee all kinds of commercial activities in residential areas across New Town to check encroachments.

They will also check if the establishments have proper NOC and trade licence to do business.

“We are trying to develop the team to streamline and strengthen the surveillance process. The teams will oversee all kinds of commercial activities in residential areas to check whether any illegal or unauthorised activity is happening,” said an official.

Separate field supervisors have been assigned to each of the three Action Areas. A seven-member team named team A will oversee Action Area I and another seven-member group — team B — will oversee Action Areas II and III. The two teams will act under the direct supervision of the NKDA administrative supervisor and report to him. The administrative supervisor, will in turn, forward the report to the estate manager-I who will finally submit the report to the NKDA administrative officer on a regular basis. The names of the field supervisors along with their contact numbers have been mentioned in the order.

The team will also survey hawker rehabilitation and oversee hawkers’ markets and identify new parking areas.
