Nitin Gadkari to launch Rs 13,000-crore road projects on March 23

Union minister of road and transport Nitin Gadkari will lay foundation stone and launch a slew of road projects in Jharkhand worth Rs 13,299 crore on March 23.

Union minister of road and transport Nitin Gadkari will lay foundation stone and launch a slew of road projects in Jharkhand worth Rs 13,299 crore on March 23. The total projects measure a collective length of 752 km, details issued from the regional office of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Monday stated.

NHAI’s CGM (T)-cum-regional officer, S K Mishra, said that the projects cover South Chotanagpur, Kolhan and Palamu commissioner divisions.

In Jamshedpur, inauguration will be done for one project, while foundation stones will be laid for nine projects.

“The balance work of four/six laning of Jamshedpur- Mahulia Section of NH-33 under national highways development programme (phase–III) is over. The minister will dedicate it to the public on that day from Jamshedpur,” said Mishra.

Projects of Jamshedpur whose foundation stones will be laid include four-lane, double-decker elevated road from Kalimandir-Dimna road to Baliguma; ROB on NH75E between Jhikpani and Talaburu railway station, reconstruction of Bhuiya Sinan to Susni via Hata road in East Singhbhum among others.

This double-decker corridor will be around 10.2km in length. Once complete, it will ease the traffic in the nearby areas as vehicles coming from Ranchi and going towards Kolkata will not use the road used by vehicles from the city. Over the past 15 years, several big residential colonies and slums have come up in the area.

Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato said he had met the minister in connection with the construction of the flyover more than 20 times to ensure that all the roadblocks are cleared. “Once the flyover is complete, it would be a smooth drive for those using this part of NH-33,” he added. The project is estimated to cost around Rs 1,500 crore.

Meanwhile, as the area is close to Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, the forest department has sought clarifications on 29 points on the project from the highway authorities, said DFO Abhishek Kumar.

At a programme in Ranchi, he will dedicate three projects to the nation (public). It includes construction of vehicle underpass at Patel Chowk on NH33 in Ramgarh district; strengthening of a section of road on NH100 in Chatra district and widening and strengthening of two lanes on NH-99 in Chatra district. This apart foundation stones will be laid for as many as 18 projects some of which include four-laning of Gola to Bokaro Jaina More (NH320), ROB between Daltonganj and Rajhura in Palamu district, widening of two lanes of Chainpur-Mahuadam in Gumla district among others./Jamshedpur.
