Union Minister Nitin Gadkari arrived to Belagavi in the morning of Monday February 28, was welcomed by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi at Belagavi’s Sambra Airport. Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the programme digitally.
The Minister laid foundation stone for 238-km-long five highway projects namely Belagavi – Sankeshwara, Sankeshwara – Maharashtra four-lane road, Two lane road between Chorla-Zamboti-Belagavi, Vijayapura – Muragundi (NH 548 B, and Siddapura – Vijayapura (NH 561 A), and thus the projects were launched.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said that, “It is under Minister Nitin Gadkari that Karnataka has got the grant. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given huge grants to Gram Sadak project that surpasses all previous records. Until 2014 only 91000-km-road had been constructed. After Modi and Gadkari came to power 1.41 lakh kms of National Highway have been constructed. Minister Gadkari does what he says, said CM Bommai. He has constructed all the road underpass, he added. The total grant for our State during UPA Government was Rs. 8000 Crore, and ee have granted Rs. 42000 Crore over a period of seven years, he noted.
Gadkari doesn’t think of political gain while given grabts. No MPs will say that Gadkari has not granted us funds. They call him as ‘Roadkari’ rather than Gadkari, he added.
Pralhad Joshi thanked Gadkari for giving sizeable grants to the State.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Bommai said that, today a road revolution has happend in Belagavi. Today five National Highway projects have been inaugurated. There were demand for road construction in neighbouring Maharashtra, Goa and other District. However, today we have laid foundation stone for five National Highways. The energy behind this is Prime Minister Narendra Mod. Nitin Gadakari has realised Modiji:s dream by this road revolution. The Congress will gain maximum pubilicity if it constructs even a single road, said the Minister.
Nitin Gadkari has been developing more and more roads. Water power project from Nippani to Kitturu will start at Maharashtra border. The water project will be started first in karanataka. Hydroelectricity will be generated along the Belagavi National Highway, added Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
