Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has unveiled an infrastructure initiative exceeding Rs three lakh crore for Madhya Pradesh, with the objective of enhancing connectivity, tourism, and logistics.
During the inauguration of the state’s longest flyover in Jabalpur, Nitin Gadkari revealed several significant projects, including a Rs 5,500 crore ‘Tiger Corridor’ that will connect the Kanha, Panna, Bandhavgarh, and Pench tiger reserves to promote eco-tourism and rural employment.
Key features include a Rs 15,000 crore greenfield expressway linking Bhopal and Jabalpur, a Rs 10,000 crore highway from Lakhnadaun to Raipur, and a Rs 12,000 crore expressway between Indore and Bhopal. Other initiatives comprise the Rs 15,000 crore Jabalpur-Mandla-Chilpi corridor, a Rs 2,500 crore upgrade of the Seoni-Chhindwara-Sanwner highway, and a Rs 2,300 crore road from Khargone to Julwania.
Additionally, several two-lane road projects have been approved, such as the Rs 625 crore Betul-Paratwara segment and the Rs 750 crore Balaghat-Nainpur road. On a national level, the Minister emphasized advancements on the Rs one lakh crore Delhi-Mumbai expressway, Rs 33,000 crore allocated for greenfield corridors, and the Rs 11,000 crore Bhopal-Kanpur Economic Corridor, which promise expedited travel and enhanced economic development throughout central India.
