The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has initiated action for taking up the construction of four flyovers in Guwahati Bypass (NH-37), Assam.
The information was shared by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, December 8.
The construction of the flyovers will be carried out at Boragaon, Garchuk, Lokhra and the Basistha junctions in the Guwahati Bypass. Besides, NHAI has planned to take up project preparation work for the construction of Guwahati Ring Road.
Gadkari informed that to expedite completion of all ongoing National Highway projects, the State government has taken various steps including streamlining of land acquisition and environment clearances, exit for equity investors, premium re-schedulement, close coordination with other Ministries, revamping of dispute resolution mechanism, frequent reviews at various levels, etc.
Action has also been taken by NHAI for the construction of standalone flyovers and road over bridges on the stretches of NH 31, NH 31C, NH 36 and NH 37, and completion of the balance work of Narimbaglo-Jatinga Junction- Hrangajao stretch of East-West corridor.
Further, the Ministry plans to take up about 131 new National Highway projects at an approximate estimated cost of about Rs 84,193 crore in the North Eastern States, within the next three years, under the National Infrastructure Pipeline.
