The construction of a four-lane Gauripur Bypass on National Highway-31 (NH-31) is set to improve transportation infrastructure in Assam. The project, valued at Rs 206.88 crore, aims to ease congestion, enhance connectivity, and facilitate investment in the state. The bypass will connect key areas, including Dumardoha, Khudimari, Fulkumari, and Baladmara. This will provide better access for local commuters and commercial transport, reducing travel time and improving traffic flow. By strengthening road infrastructure, the project is expected to enhance the movement of goods and people, contributing to economic activity in the region.
The bidding process for the project was initiated on 2 September 2024. The contract was awarded to the lowest evaluated bidder, who quoted a price of Rs 206,88,13,211. The selected contractor must acknowledge the Letter of Award (LOA) and sign the contract agreement within the specified timeframe. To ensure timely completion, the contractor is required to submit a performance security of Rs 6.2 crore, along with an additional security of the same amount, within 30 days of receiving the LOA. These measures aim to maintain project standards and adherence to deadlines.
The Gauripur Bypass project aligns with Assam’s broader infrastructure initiatives to improve road networks and boost regional connectivity. The state government and central agencies continue to prioritize projects that address congestion and promote efficient transportation. By enhancing NH-31, the project supports Assam’s long-term development strategy, positioning the state as a key transport hub in the region. The improved infrastructure is expected to benefit local businesses and industries reliant on efficient logistics and transport links.
Following the completion of contract formalities, construction work will commence as per the project schedule. Monitoring mechanisms will be in place to ensure compliance with technical and operational standards. The bypass is expected to contribute to Assam’s transportation network, supporting economic growth and development in the region. Authorities are keen to ensure that the project progresses without delays and meets the requirements of all stakeholders involved. The improved road connectivity is likely to attract further investments and create new opportunities for trade and commerce. Assam’s commitment to infrastructure development is evident through such initiatives, reinforcing its position as a growing economic corridor in the region.
