Residents of New Town will soon have the opportunity to pay property taxes, mutation fees, and access various services via the dedicated website of the New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA).
Currently, payments for property taxes and municipal service fees are processed through the e-district portal, which frequently encounters technical issues that complicate the process. An NKDA official stated, ‘We are establishing our own platform that will be integrated into the NKDA website.
We have received feedback from residents regarding the challenges faced when using the e-district portal for property tax and municipal service fee payments.’ At present, the e-district portal is connected to the NKDA website, but government officials noted that it was designed for all urban local bodies and does not align well with the NKDA’s municipal services framework.
‘This misalignment results in various technical difficulties, including server outages and other glitches,’ the official added. Meanwhile, the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation is working on implementing the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) in Salt Lake and Rajarhat Gopalpur as an additional payment option, alongside the current online and offline methods.
