District collector Vipin Itankar held a meeting on Tuesday to review the land acquisition process for the second phase of city’s Metro project. He also instructed the revenue department to ensure that no proposal remains pending.
The meeting comes in the backdrop of several pending proposals for land acquisitions in Metro project. The collector instructed the revenue department to dispose of all land acquisition proposals immediately. He also instructed the revenue department and Metro to conduct joint inspections, and to maintain better coordination for quick results.
He also instructed the latter to work with the defence department regarding the land issues on Wardha Road.
Itankar also emphasized the need for timely planning for all remaining land acquisition cases. The Metro project, which is expected to be completed by 2024, has been hampered by the pending proposals.
The meeting was attended by deputy collector (land acquisition) Madhuri Tikhe, deputy collector (Pench project) Puja Patil, sub-superintendent of land records Kamthi Shyam Pandey, assistant director of town planning department Ashish More, town planning officer Surya Balekar and R Anandkumar and Prakash Sakarde of Mahametro.
