The Mussoorie and Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has come up with a new offer as part of its existing scheme, Transport Area Residential Scheme, in which flats will be provided at a discounted rate to people belonging to the lower income groups.
The original rate of a 1BHK MDDA flat is Rs 19.9 lakh on which a Rs 1 lakh discount will be given, MDDA officials said.
On group bookings, a discount of 4-5% apart from the Rs 1 lakh will also be given, they added. “In the group booking, if some people have made a group of eight people, then they will have to book at least eight flats in order to avail the 4-5% discount apart from the Rs 1 lakh discount which is being given to everybody,” an official said.
Women, senior citizens and disabled are being provided with an additional discount of 1% in the scheme.
People from the lower income group working in government departments and public sector units will also be provided with an additional discount of Rs 50,000.
A resident can claim a maximum discount of Rs 1.5 lakh per flat, MDDA officials further said.
Ashish Srivastava, vice-chairman of MDDA, told TOI that he is hopeful of a good response. “We have come up with this scheme for residents to fulfil their dreams of owning a house in Dehradun. I am sure the discounts will motivate them towards this end.”
