The state property registration department is gearing up ensure that at least 20% of first-sale (brand new) units are registered online by builders in the upcoming months till January, after starting e-registration from developers’ offices.
State Inspector General of Registration and Stamps (IGR), Shravan Hardikar, on Wednesday told, “There has been a good response for this initiative. We hope that in the coming three months, this trend picks up further. The department will focus on ensuring that more developers come on board for the same. We have started bringing on board developers with even just 20 units to register.”
The total expected units to be registered from developers’ offices is around 1.43 lakh units in coming days, said officials. For now, daily registration is limited to 10-15 documents.
Six dedicated officers have been appointed to speed up the e-registration process to ensure that more developers opt for the same. Registration officials said that the main aim is to reduce the rush to the sub-registrars’ offices. Training for the process is being provided to developers and workshops to do so have been conducted at various exhibitions.
“The e-registration facility from developers’ offices was announced in October 2021. Most developers received training even before this began. The response is healthy,” said deputy IGR (IT) Suhas Mapari, adding that numbers are increasing steadily.
Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (Credai) national vice president Shantilal Kataria told, “The initial hiccups have been ironed out and many developers are interested in the e-process. By the end of the year, maximum builders will opt for it. The registration department is focusing on this shift and developers are also comfortable with it.”
However, he added that training has to be ensured for more cities rather than just metros, and more developer bodies need to be inducted to ensure added participation.
