The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has appealed to over 1.35 lakh property owners to pay property tax for the financial year 2022-23 by June 30 in order to get 6% concession in the tax amount.
The civic body has also managed to generate property tax bills for all property owners by Monday. Usually, the bills are generated by the end of May or in the first week of June. The dispatching of bills has also started.
Property owners can check their bills online by submitting the property assessment number on KMC’s portal. The owners have been asked by the KMC to not wait for the hard copy of the bill. Instead they can visit the nearest citizens facilitation centres (CFC) and clear their dues by providing the assessment number printed on last year’s bill. People can also pay their bills online.
A senior KMC official said many people prefer paying the bill before June 30 in order to get the concession. “Owners of large properties especially turn up to avail the concession. We want the owners of individual houses and small properties to turn up in large numbers as well as the scheme applies to all types of properties,” the official said.
If property owners clear their tax dues before September 30 then the concession reduces to 4%, and if paid before December 31, a 2% concession is given. The concession applies to the principal amount of bill generated and not on dues and fines imposed for previous years.
