Thirty two projects totalling Rs 743.37cr were approved by Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) at its 51st board meeting, chaired by the chief minister. The projects include those previously approved during the executive committee meeting on Nov 6. With the latest approval, KIIFB has now sanctioned 1,147 projects valued at Rs 87,378.33cr, finance minister K N Balagopal said.
Among the projects approved in the latest meeting are the development of a district hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, establishment of a financial-industrial corridor from Vizhinjam to Thiruvananthapuram-Punalur, and the setting up of a centre of excellence in mathematics and various studies. Other notable projects include the development of AKG Heritage Square in Kannur and Chilavannoor canal integrated development.In the latest general and executive committee meetings, approvals were also granted for 11 projects worth Rs 335.28cr under the public works department, three projects totalling Rs 23.35cr under the coastal shipping and inland navigation department, and procurement of equipment for nine hospitals under the health department spending Rs 30.38cr. Additional projects were approved across various departments, including revenue, local self-govt, sports, forest, tourism, industries, and IT.
Significant projects approved include the construction of a digital science park in the sixth phase of Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, and land acquisition for a carbon-neutral park in Wayanad. Three development projects under the urban rejuvenation and integrated transport project in Kochi were also approved, alongside medical equipment and construction for various hospitals. A project aimed at mitigating human-wildlife conflict through community participation, the expansion of paediatric and women’s wards in SAT Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, and the construction of modern gas crematoriums were also part of the approvals.
Furthermore, land acquisition for various public works department projects, the construction of Mundakkal bridge in Alappuzha district, the second phase of the ring road at Kottarakkara, the development of Thalassery Kadalthara-Overbury park/plaza at Meenachil, and the construction of the check dam-cum-bridge across Chinnar river were included in the approved projects.
To date, KIIFB disbursed a total of Rs 31,379.08cr for the approved projects and completed projects worth Rs 18,423.50cr.
