The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation in this financial year has collected the highest property tax –Rs 427 crore.
Earlier, KDMC has collected highest property tax, Rs 350 crore, in a year.
The property tax department of KDMC on last day of financial year on March 31 in a day made record recovery of Rs 10.78 crore.
Property tax is one of the major sources of revenue for civic bodies which the civic body uses for development purpose of city.
Looking at lockdown due to coronavirus, the KDMC commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi last year had implemented 75% waiver on intrest scheme for taxpayers for period of 3 months from 15 October to January 15.
Due to scheme tax payers took benifit of scheme and in three months KDMC recovered Rs 231 crore.
Alongwith property tax, KDMC have also collected Rs 66 crore water tax in this financial year against last year collection of Rs 61 crore.
