JSPL’s steel production up 13% to record 6.3 million tonne in FY20

The Group recorded the highest ever production and sales of Steel and related product at 8.2 Million tonne and 8 million tonnes respectively, which is an increase of 12% and 10% respectively,

JSPL has said the company’s steel & related products production increased 13% to a record level of 6.3 million tonne during FY20 compared to FY 19 and sales increased 13% to 6 million tonne over the previous year.

The Group recorded the highest ever production and sales of Steel and related product at 8.2 Million tonne and 8 million tonnes respectively, which is an increase of 12% and 10% respectively, an official statement said.

The company’s domestic operations continued to ramp up significantly during the year FY20.

JSPL, which operates India’s only private sector Rail mill, said the unit clocked a record production of 5.7 Lakh tonnes during FY 20. It has also recently received approval from RDSO for supply of extremely sophisticated Head Hardened Rails (1080HH Grade), the statement added.

JSPL’S Plate Mill at Raigarh also achieved highest-ever production at 9.47 lakh tonne during the FY20, surpassing the previous best of 8.4 lakh tonne in FY19.

Commenting on the performance, VR Sharma, managing director – JSPL said: “The 3 million tonne per annum figure from the newly installed Angul plant was a dream, which has come true now. Raigarh has already done this miracle twice earlier. India’s largest Blast furnace at Angul continues to produce more than 10000 MT/day of hot metal and the world’s only SynGas based direct refuced iron or DRI Plant is running well which will lead to creating new records in future.”
