Jharkhand CM lays foundation of 5,400 crore schemes

Chief minister Hemant Soren handed over appointment letters to over 600 newly recruited state government employees and laid the foundation stones of road construction, widening and strengthening projects worth Rs 5,433.

Chief minister Hemant Soren handed over appointment letters to over 600 newly recruited state government employees and laid the foundation stones of road construction, widening and strengthening projects worth Rs 5,433.24 crore during the statehood day function at the Morhabadi Ground on Tuesday.

Soren also launched a new portal to provide financial relief to drought-hit farmers across 226 blocks of the state. The government has pledged to provide interim one-time assistance of Rs 3,500 to drought-hit farmers through direct benefit transfers into their bank accounts after they sign up on the portal.

The chief minister also remotely inaugurated 147 new projects of water resources, school education and literacy, higher and technical education, urban development and housing, ST, SC, OBC and minority welfare, agriculture, Jharkhand Police corporation housing and health departments across the state worth Rs 1,876.34 crore.

Among the ones who were handed appointment letters were over 250 assistant engineers, 300 Grade-A nurses for the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) and clerks recruited for the state urban development and housing board.

Soren also launched four schemes — Mukhyamantri Sarthi Yojana, Guruji Credit Card Scheme, Eklavya Prashikshan Yojana, and Mukhyamantri Shiksha Protsahan Yojana. Mukhyamantri Shiksha Protsahan Yojana (MSPY) will provide wholly subsidised coaching to over 8,000 Class X pass students in premier private coaching institutes of the state for national-level entrance examinations to engineering, medical, law, fashion designing, journalism and mass communication, and hotel management courses.

Guruji Credit Card scheme will offer students with loans up to Rs 15 lakh for pursuing higher studies in premier colleges at 4% interest rate.

Under Eklavya Prashikshan Yojana, over 27,000 students will be provided coaching through premier private coaching institutes for national-level job examinations such as UPSC, Jharkhand Public Service Commission, Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission, Railway Recruitment Board and Banking along with monthly stipends, the state said.
