Indore district administration has identified around 15 hectare required to develop around one km approach road to Indore airport’s runway for easy exit in case of emergency.
In a meeting of Indore airport authority advisory committee, held on March 9, MP Shankar Lalwani had held discussions over different issues related to development of airport along with construction of an approach road for Maa Bijasan Mandir and increasing safety and security of the campus. He had issued instructions for a survey of an approach road from the backside of the runway for fire brigade and ambulance to reach the spot in case of emergency along with easy exit of passengers and staff.
“As per the survey, around 15 hectare of private land has been identified to develop around 1 km long and 9 metre wide road that will run parallel to the airstrip and will be used as an exit route in case of emergency,” SDM Munish Sikarwar said adding that the process to acquire the land will be initiated following approval of the airport authority and other departments concerned.
The compensation to acquire the private land will be decided as per the set rules, senior administrative officials said.
For the airport’s expansion, around 20 acre, including existing approach road of Maa Bijasan Mandir, has been handed over to the authority. Besides, the advisory committee has sent a proposal to district administration to make available additional around eight acre of ‘nazul’ snear Central School to the airport, along with paving a way for construction of an approach road to Maa Bijasan Mandir.
