The income tax (I-T) department conducted searches on the properties and offices of four builder groups in the city. Dozens of I-T teams carried out search operations at various places to ascertain if the builders evaded tax by not disclosing properties they bought.
The I-T teams conducted searches at more than 20 locations across the city, including the residences of these builders.
Sources said that searches were also conducted at the offices of these real estate groups in Ahmedabad and Surat. The I-T search is expected to continue on Thursday as well.
The I-T officials conducted searches at the offices of building contractors in the city some months ago.
