Gurugram has over 105 ‘dangerous’ buildings: Survey

The survey was recently carried out by the taxation department of the civic body in all four zones to evaluate the property price.

MCG survey of the residential and commercial properties revealed that there are around 105 buildings across the city that are in ‘dangerous’ condition.

The survey was recently carried out by the taxation department of the civic body in all four zones to evaluate the property price.

Based on its report, MCG has asked the executive engineers of the respective areas to conduct a technical check and submit a final report on whether these properties are dangerous or not.

According to sources, the categorisation of the properties as dangerous was done by the surveying team based on the exterior condition of the buildings.

Of these 105 properties, 90 of them are residential properties and the remaining 15 are commercial properties. Majority of them fall in zone-1 and zone-2 of the MCG. Zone-1 has 41 properties marked as ‘dangerous’, 35 are in zone-2 and the areas of the remaining 29 have not been specified.

“The taxation department has to evaluate buildings every five years. Reassessment of properties is done to evaluate the worth of that property and check whether the prices have increased or reduced. This time we conducted the survey and during this assessment, found 105 buildings are in dangerous condition. However, since the engineering wing knows about the technicalities, we have asked the executive engineers to recheck the properties we have identified as dangerous,” said Dinesh Kumar, zonal taxation officer, MCG.

He added that the executive engineers will submit the final report after a survey to the chief engineers based on which action will be taken. The MCG officials said that the properties were deemed as “dangerous” by assessing their external conditions. However, the officials said that the engineering wing would conduct a technical survey to prepare the final report.
