Govt will sanction highway projects worth more than Rs 3 lakh crore this financial year as it continues its focus on investing in creating the country’s transport infrastructure, road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari has said.
Recently, govt approved eight high-speed corridor projects totaling 936km worth Rs 50,655 crore and four other large projects costing another Rs 60,000 crore are likely to be placed before the cabinet in the next couple of weeks. These include the Surat-Solapur corridor in Gujarat and Maharashtra costing over Rs 20,000 crore, and the Shillong-Silchar stretch worth around Rs 25,000 crore.
