GDA to allot slots to buyers for Property registration

GDA will soon implement a slot allocation system for property registration to enhance efficiency. On average, the Authority handles more than 80 registrations monthly, equating to at least 11 per day, with a significant portion of its revenue derived from the sale of plots and flats.

In the financial year 2024-25, the GDA generated Rs 312 crore from the sale and auction of residential and commercial plots, marking it as the primary source of revenue. To facilitate a smoother registration process for buyers, a slot-based registry system will be introduced shortly, as stated by GDA vice-chairperson Atul Vats.

Once this system is in place, buyers will be required to apply online for specific dates and times via the GDA portal after preparing their documents according to a checklist. They will then need to visit the GDA office at their designated time to finalize the paperwork.

Currently, buyers often have to make multiple trips to the GDA office to complete their registrations, which is both complicated and time-consuming. Vats noted that there have been instances where buyers left without completing their transactions after waiting in line for extended periods, causing frustration and negatively affecting revenue. The new system will allow buyers to select a suitable date and time for their appointments. The Authority has commenced upgrades to its property management system on its portal and anticipates launching the slot system in the coming months.
