On Friday, the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) officials held a meeting and made a decision to formalise and implement the plan as soon as possible with the released amount.

The state government has released a sum of Rs 200 crore to develop the much awaited New Kanpur City and Bingawan scheme in Kanpur. On Friday, the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) officials held a meeting and made a decision to formalise and implement the plan as soon as possible with the released amount.

The commercial plots will also be developed under the scheme. About an year ago, KDA had sent a proposal worth Rs 726 crore to the government to purchase land from farmers to develop New Kanpur City Scheme and Bingawan Residential Scheme near Pandu river in four villages including Singhpur, Hindupur, Gangpur Chakbada located between Mainawati Marg and Kalyanpur-Singhpur Road. The proposal was rejected by the government.

The proposal was sent again with some changes. The government however this time approved the proposal on Dec 7 for the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Urban Expansion/New Cities Incentive Scheme for overall and proper development of cities and released a sum of Rs 200 crores to the Development Authority for both these schemes.

KDA Secretary Shatrohan Vaishya said that out of the Rs 200 crores released amount, land will be purchased from farmers for the New Kanpur City Scheme with a sum of Rs 150 crores. “Of the 153 hectares scheme, 54 hectares of land belongs to KDA. The Bingawan scheme will be developed with the remaining Rs 50 crore received from the government,” he said and added, “Land registration will be done soon from the farmers who have given their consent. Plots will be allotted after getting the development work done.”
