The East–West Metro Corridor, which is a component of Phase 1B of the Lucknow Metro initiative, is poised to progress with essential land clearances in Old Lucknow. The 11.2-kilometer segment, linking Charbagh to Vasant Kunj, will traverse through areas with limited space.
Authorities intend to commence construction in February 2026, notwithstanding the difficulties presented by narrow streets and heavy traffic. The project will employ state-of-the-art construction techniques, including tunnel boring machines for subterranean work, and compact stations designed to accommodate Lucknow’s population density.
A senior official from the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRCL) stated, “We are engineering not just around structures, but around people’s lived realities.” The objective of the project is to transform local transit while minimizing disruption to the community.
