DTCP to hire private agency for status check of Mahira Homes

DTCP is poised to take charge of the project in Sector 68 after the builder’s licence was cancelled last month for allegedly submitting forged documents and bank guarantees.

The town and country planning department (DTCP) is in the process of hiring a private agency to prepare a status report of the Mahira Homes affordable housing project, whose licence was recently cancelled, before its takeover.

DTCP is poised to take charge of the project in Sector 68 after the builder’s licence was cancelled last month for allegedly submitting forged documents and bank guarantees. Those allotted houses in the project have demanded an immediate takeover to resume construction at the earliest.

Senior town planner Sanjeev Mann, an official said, told the allottees that the Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) had got a quotation of Rs 25 lakh to prepare the status report of the project and the approval was awaited from the head office.

“The agency’s report will include the status of completed and pending work, the amount required for completion of the project and other such estimates. Based on the report, the department will plan the course of action and begin the takeover process,” a senior DTCP official said.

Around 1,500 homebuyershave been left in the lurch since DTCP cancelled the licence of the project in May and got an FIR registered against the developer — Mahira Infratech Pvt Ltd, formerly Sai Aaina Farms Pvt Ltd.

On Saturday, about 90 buyers of Mahira Homes in Sector 104 met Haryana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (H-RERA) chief KK Khandelwal, seeking orders to stop installments being paid to the developer until the investigation was complete. The allottees were, however, told that little could be done without having formed an association.

“We have been left with no other option but to approach the high court,” said Kamal Bhardwaj, one of the 90 buyers.
