DTCP constitues five teams to enforce construction ban in Gurugram

In case any construction activity is noticed, the teams will stop it on the spot and submit reports to the office of the district town planner (DTCP) daily," an official said.

The department of town and country planning (DTCP) has formed five teams to ensure the ban on all types of construction and development activities in the city .

According to DTCP officials, the teams will keep a check on any kind of individual construction in around 30 licensed colonies. “In case any construction activity is noticed, the teams will stop it on the spot and submit reports to the office of the district town planner (DTCP) daily. The team will also seal under-construction buildings in case of major violations,” an official said.

The state government had banned all construction and development activities from November 14 to bring down rising pollution levels through an order by the Haryana chief secretary.

DTP (enforcement) RS Batth said the five teams were constituted on Tuesday to keep a check on any kind of construction activities and help improve air quality in the city.

Instead of issuing notices or asking them to attend a hearing, violators will directly be issued challans by the department. “DTCP has already appealed to the people of Gurgaon to stop ongoing construction till further orders in view of the rising pollution levels. Therefore, construction activities won’t be tolerated,” Batth added.

The department has also asked the developers of various residential colonies to keep the DTP office informed in case any construction activity takes place in their colonies. As per the directions issued to developers, the DTP said in case any construction activity is found in their licensed areas, strict action in terms of penalty shall be taken, along with further course of action as per law.

“All the developers are also directed to depute their officials concerned to carry out patrolling in their licensed areas to ensure that even the individual unit owners don’t carry out construction. Officials will be visiting their areas to check for violations,” reads the order issued by DTCP to builders.
