The Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) has sought the Tamil Nadu government’s intervention to regulate the rising cement and steel prices.
In a representation to chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami recently, it was mentioned that cement and steel were the most essential raw materials for construction works and any increase in their prices will impact on the cost of construction.
“There has been a steep increase of almost Rs 100 per bag for cement and Rs 2,200 per metric tonne of steel. This abrupt spurt in prices by its manufacturers in the present situation is against the restrictive trade practices that were laid down and is unethical,” the representation added.
CREDAI has sought the immediate intervention to control the prices of cement and steel.
