Chennai Metro Rail Limited on Thursday signed a contract with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited for construction of a 10km elevated line over the OMR IT corridor from Sholinganallur to Siruseri Sipcot with nine stations.
The contract is part of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) funding for phase-2.
A release said the scope of the contract includes construction of an elevated viaduct of approximate length of 10km and nine elevated metro stations at Sholinganallur Lake-1, Sri Ponniamman Temple (Sholinganallur Lake-2), Sathyabama University (Semmenchery-1), Semmenchery-2, Gandhi Nagar, Navalur, Siruseri, Siruseri Sipcot-1 and Siruseri Sipcot-2 as well as stabling viaduct at Sipcot.
Earlier, CMRL issued a letter of acceptance to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited on January 10 for an amount of Rs 1,134 crore.
T Archunan, director, projects, CMRL and Chaudhary Rajneesh Kumar Singh, senior DGM, electrical, BD, RVNL signed the contract.
CMRL said this is the last elevated corridor tender being awarded for the 118.9km phase-2 project.
