Chinchbhuvan–Mihan interchange flyover work begins in Nagpur

The National Highway division of Maharashtra’s Public Works Department (PWD) has initiated work on the long-awaited Chinchbhuvan to Mihan Interchange flyover project in Nagpur.

The project, which is valued at Rs 619.55 crore and has been awarded to a firm based in Bhopal, is scheduled for completion within a period of 24 months. In order to prevent traffic disruptions during the winter session of the state legislature, the PWD has commenced with road-widening activities prior to the construction of the flyover.

This project encompasses a 2.69 km six-lane flyover, the reconstruction of the existing four-lane road situated beneath it, and the widening of a 3.05 km segment of Wardha Road to six lanes in the vicinity of the Mihan Interchange. The PWD has requested authorization to fell 415 trees, and the Nagpur Municipal Corporation has called for objections from the public.

The new flyover is anticipated to alleviate congestion, decrease the number of accidents on the heavily trafficked Nagpur–Hyderabad highway (NH-44), and enhance traffic flow at one of the most congested entry points in the city, Chinchbhuvan.
