CHB receives 26 applications for flats in sector 53

In July, the CHB proposed a 3BHK flat for Rs 1.85 crore, 2BHK for Rs 1.6 crore, 1BHK for Rs 1.15 crore and for the economically weaker section (EWS) at Rs 58 lakh, drawing a lot of criticism.

The Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has received 26 applications within a week for city’s on demand housing scheme offering 492 flats in Sector 53.

In July, the CHB proposed a 3BHK flat for Rs 1.85 crore, 2BHK for Rs 1.6 crore, 1BHK for Rs 1.15 crore and for the economically weaker section (EWS) at Rs 58 lakh, drawing a lot of criticism.

Thereafter, the CHB released new prices on October 10 and mentioned that a 3BHK (HIG) will cost Rs 1.80 crore, 2BHK (MIG) Rs 1.47 crore, 1BHK (LIG) Rs 95 lakh and a two-room flats (EWS) Rs 50 lakh. According to market experts, the prices are still on the higher side.

“The CHB intends to construct self-financing housing scheme comprising 492 flats of different categories in Sector 53 under which an allottee is required to make 100% payment of the chargeable price before possession. For this purpose, the CHB intends to conduct a demand survey,” said an CHB official.

He said persons applying under the demand survey will be given preference in allotment under the scheme or category applied by him subject to their eligibility.

“The brochure of the demand survey consisting details, including format of application form, have been uploaded on the website of the CHB www.chbonline.in. The application can be submitted online only and manual applications will not be accepted,” official said.

Interested citizens can file applications only through the official website of the CHB. The forms can be filled till November 30.

The decision to conduct demand survey was taken to check whether there was a demand for the general housing in the city or not. The board of directors in July had directed CHB officials to carry out the survey. The Sector 53 housing scheme was proposed to be made open for all.
