Central Government has released Rs 187.28 crore to Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) for its flagship projects—New Kanpur City and Bingawan—as special assistance to the states for capital Investment 2023-24.The state government had forwarded the proposal for the funds allocation which could be spent on various development programmes. KDA vice-chairman Vishak G Iyer has taken steps to execute the New Kanpur City and Bingawan residential schemes.
The KDA has proposed the flagship scheme “New Kanpur City” in 153.21 hectare area between Mainawati Marg and Kalyanpur-Bithoor Road and Bingavan Township near Jhansi-Etawah highway in the south of Kanpur city, said SB Rai, law officer/public relations officer KDA.
Since a large amount has to be invested in purchasing land and its development, the vice- chairman had sent a proposal to the state government to forward it to the Central government for the release of funds under the scheme for special assistance to states for capital investment.
Rai said Rs 41.50 crore has been allotted for construction work of various internal roads under New Kanpur City Scheme., Rs 70 crore for construction work of 20 MLD STP in New Kanpur City Scheme. Rs 5.78 crore will be spent for constructing internal roads under Bingawan Scheme.
