Bhopal smart city project was awarded for initiatives taken for parking facilities in the city at a Smart Cities India Awards 2023 held in New Delhi, according to a press release here on Wednesday. The expo was inaugurated by Union road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari.
The ‘8th Smart Cities India Expo’ recognized Bhopal smart city for its multilevel smart parking initiatives. Last year Indore had bagged the award in this category. Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation limited (BSCDCL) CEO, Gaurav Benal received the award.
Parking facilities in MP Nagar, New Market and Bairagarh were highlighted. Smart city parking in Bhopal began around 2018-19. These are multistory buildings which provide space for two-wheelers and four-wheeler parking. Soon rooftop space of the parking buildings will be developed for amusement activity.
