Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited bags Rs 1600 crore equipment order

BHEL has contributed around 74% of Uttar Pradesh's coal-based power generation capacity, aggregating to approximately 17,000 mw.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has bagged a Rs 1600 crore equipment order for a greenfield 2×660 mw Khurja Super Thermal Power Project in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh.

The order for Turbine Generator and associated packages has been placed on BHEL by THDC India Ltd, a Joint Venture of the central government and the government of Uttar Pradesh, an official statement said.

BHEL’s scope of work in the contract includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of the turbine generator and associated packages for the 2×660 MW Khurja supercritical power project.

BHEL has contributed around 74% of Uttar Pradesh’s coal-based power generation capacity, aggregating to approximately 17,000 mw.

The key equipment for the project will be manufactured at BHEL’s Haridwar, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Jhansi, Trichy, Thirumayam and Bengaluru plants. The complete system engineering of the package will be carried out by the company’s Project Engineering Management (PEM) division and the construction and installation activities on-site will be carried out by the company’s Power Sector – Northern Region division, Noida, UP.

BHEL is India’s largest manufacturer of power generation equipment with an installed base of over 1,85,000 mw of power plant equipment globally.
