Amnesty scheme launched for property owners to secure CC

The AMC took this decision after a meeting held with architects in the city on Friday. The architects suggested certain measures to simplify the application process for securing the completion certificates.

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced an amnesty scheme for residents who wish to secure completion certificates for their buildings in the city. Officials said residents can avail a discount of 25% on penalties under the scheme that will run from March 1 to March 31.

The AMC took this decision after a meeting held with architects in the city on Friday. The architects suggested certain measures to simplify the application process for securing the completion certificates.

The drive was also initiated to increase revenue and to ensure structures are built according to standards set by the civic body. It is hoped that the amnesty scheme will encourage residents and commercial property owners to get their real estate regularised.

The meeting, held on Friday at the Babasaheb Ambedkar Research Centre, also discussed the scope of the amnesty scheme. R S Mahajan, the assistant director of town planning at AMC; deputy engineer Sanjay Kombde; senior architect Ramesh Nagpal; president of Architects Association of Aurangabad Sunil Bhale; secretary Swapnil Pargaonkar; Deepak Deshpande; Ajay Thakur; Manish Kale and Miling Vadekar attended the meeting.

Participants also discussed the documents that would be required for the certification and the discount of 25%. It was stated that the completion certificate is an important document for residents — just like Aadhaar is for an individual. It was highlighted by the experts that completion certificates would ensure development and amenities in a city are better planned.

The architects said a complicated process often discourages residents from securing permissions and certificates. The AMC officials said measures would be put in place to simplify the process further.

The architects, as well as the civic officials, then urged residents to make the most of the month-long amnesty scheme.
