The Eknath Shinde–Devendra Fadnavis government has cancelled all government resolutions issued by the Maha Vikas Aghadi with regard to the redevelopment of Mhada buildings.
All the GRs pertained to the requirement of a prior no-objection certificate from the state government for carrying out redevelopment.
The circulars had been issued by the MVA government between 2021 and 2022. These included getting an NOC for increase in FSI from 2.5 to 3 in case of redevelopment of cessed buildings.
The new GR issued on September 15 states that no prior approval from the government is required for redevelopment, reconstruction of buildings destroyed by fire or those that have collapsed or have been legally demolished, cluster redevelopment, and allotment of transit tenements. The GR making it mandatory for a tripartite agreement between the developer, society and Mhada has also been cancelled.
The MVA had issued the GRs following complaints from citizens of stalled redevelopment projects.
The Shinde-Fadnavis government has said prior approval from the state government has been done away with to bring in decentralisation and for speedy decision making.
