About 250 houses in Mainpuri dist receive demolition notices

Since construction work is ongoing in the area, officials pasted notices on the houses demanding an explanation for the illegal construction.

As many as 250 houses built in the submergence area of Mainpuri district received demolition notices on behalf of the sub-divisional magistrate as part of an anti-encroachment drive in the area. However, this has created panic among residents here.

Since construction work is ongoing in the area, officials pasted notices on the houses demanding an explanation for the illegal construction.

SDM (Sadar) Navodita Sharma said, “Construction in the submergence area is strictly prohibited as the water can cause a lot of destruction. However, it was observed that people are building illegal houses there.”

Madhubala Devi, a resident, said, “I purchased a piece of land and built a house using tin shade. I have lived here for the past three years, and this notice worries me. If the administration destroys our house, we would have nowhere to go.”

“I built my house with the compensation I got after losing my job during COVID. The administration declared that my house is illegally constructed. Now, my entire family is uncertain and desperate,” said another resident Namender Kumar.
