Now you can rent a temporary locker space at Delhi Metro stations for keeping your belongings for few hours. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched ‘Momentum 2.0‘ platform with an aim to redefine the daily commuting experience for people in the National Capital Region (NCR), a report stated.Through the ‘Momentum 2.0’ app, available on both Android and iOS, commuters can enjoy the convenience of personal temporary storage at digital lockers located at metro stations.
Currently, this service is available at 50 metro stations, with plans to extend it to all stations by June 2024.To avail of this service, users simply need to log into the app using their mobile number and choose the option to rent a locker. They can then select the desired number of hours, size of the locker, and preferred time slots. After making the payment, users will receive a pin on their mobile device. By entering the pin on the locker’s screen, the digital locker will automatically open. No key is required to access the locker, according to officials.
The maximum booking duration for a locker is six hours, and the charge will depend on the duration and size of the locker. Although there is currently no fine for not retrieving belongings on time, officials have mentioned that penalties will be imposed in the future.
Moreover, the ‘Momentum 2.0’ app offers several other features to enhance the commuting experience. It provides integrated QR ticketing for both the mainline and airport lines, a wide range of e-shopping options, digital lockers for secure courier deliveries, smart utility payments, and last-mile connectivity choices.
DMRC’s managing director, Vikas Kumar, inaugurated the ‘Momentum 2.0’ platform on Wednesday at the Shivaji Stadium metro station. The new app is a joint initiative of Delhi Metro and AutoPe Payment Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
Anuj Dayal, principal executive director of corporate communications at DMRC, expressed that the aim of ‘Momentum 2.0’ is to transform the commute time into productive and quality time for travelers. The app adds a range of services to ensure hassle-free and seamless journeys. Riding the metro will no longer be just a journey; it will be an experience that begins before reaching the station and continues even after de-boarding, he added.
The app also features an e-shopping option with a wide array of goods available. The Brick & Click Store experience allows customers to conveniently shop for groceries and other essential items at metro stations. Additionally, the app plans to collaborate with major e-commerce sites in the future, enabling commuters to pick up their products from metro stations. It also offers integrated QR tickets for all metro lines and provides DMRC card recharge and transaction details within the app. DMRC plans to integrate all metro apps into this one platform in the future.
