Andhra Pradesh govt to sanction housing for poor in their own plots

Ramesh — as part of his tour in north Andhra districts — visited Jagananna layout colonies in Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram districts on Tuesday.

Andhra Pradesh housing minister Jogi Ramesh on Tuesday said that the government would sanction houses to poor people who have a piece of their own land in the Urban Development Authority area.

He asked the officials to complete the formation of roads, water supply facilities and electricity works on a priority basis in the Jagananna colony layouts.

Ramesh — as part of his tour in north Andhra districts — visited Jagananna layout colonies in Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram districts on Tuesday.

He reviewed housing for the poor under the Navaratnalu Scheme in Anakapalli and Vizianagaram districts.

The minister visited Pydiwada Ahgraharam layout in Anakapalli District, Thangidivalasa Jagananna layout in Visakhapatnam district and the Gungulam layout.

Ramesh instructed the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority officials to form the roads immediately to facilitate the beneficiaries and contractors to complete the construction activity at the earliest.

The minister instructed electricity officials to complete the electricity works and arrange the electricity supply round the clock.

“Twenty-one lakh thirty thousand houses are being constructed in the state. Around 20% of the houses sanctioned to AP are the total sanctioned houses in the country,” he said.

Every Saturday, officials in coordination should solve the problems at the field.

The minister wished that Anakapalli district should take the lead in the progress of the housing scheme.

“Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy wants the authorities to take responsibility for the success of the scheme to provide houses for all. Bills would be paid immediately as there is no shortage of funds,” he said.

Deputy chief minister Budi Mutyala Naidu and minister Gudivada Amarnath said that they would represent the problems faced by the public, if at all any, and forward the suggestions to the officials concerned.

District collector Ravi Pattan Shetty explained the progress of the construction of houses in different mandals in the district through a PowerPoint presentation.

The minister visited Tangidivalasa layout in Visakhapatnam district in which 16,000 houses are sanctioned and construction activity is going on.He expressed satisfaction with the work.
