Action ordered against officials for incorrect information in PMAY-G

According to the centre, the names were rejected due to wrong information uploaded on the system. It was also directed to conduct a re-examination of all the beneficiaries who were rejected by the centre’s portal

In view of the rejection of 2.05 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Grameen (PMAY-G) beneficiaries by the centre’s ‘Awaas+’ portal, the state’s rural development department gave directions to all the district collectors to take disciplinary action against those officials at the panchayat level who were responsible for uploading wrong information on the portal.

According to the centre, the names were rejected due to wrong information uploaded on the system. It was also directed to conduct a re-examination of all the beneficiaries who were rejected by the centre’s portal.

Out of 15.90 lakh families uploaded on the portal by the ministry of rural development, the names of 2.06 lakh families were removed from the list after being rejected by the system. Moreover, out of the 2.01 lakh beneficiaries whose names were rejected by the centre’s portal (Awaas+) due to technical errors, 1.55 lakh were found to be eligible after physical verification, a state government’s survey report said. Also, the names of 98,735 families were removed from the list through remand approved by districts on the basis of ‘AwaasSoft’ report.

The department’s order gave directions to conduct a review of the families removed from the ‘Awaas+’ list and take strict action against the guilty officers for deleting names of beneficiaries in an inappropriate manner by the districts. Earlier, the ministry of rural development, government of India, in a letter to the principal secretary, department of rural development, government of Rajasthan, had turned down the state government’s request to reinstate the wrongly deleted beneficiaries of PMAY-G on the Awaas+ portal.

In a letter written to the state government on February 15, 2022, the ministry wrote, “Request cannot be agreed as the system rejects the beneficiaries on the basis of the records entered by the state at the time of Awaas+ survey.”

The state government had urged the centre to empower the state’s rural development department to rectify the beneficiary list by making corrections.
