Demolition of Supertech twin towers will be done before Nov 30-Noida Authority

Additional CEO Neha Sharma said, “We are hopeful of demolishing the twin towers before November 30. CBRI has told us that Indian companies have the expertise of handling the demolition exercise. Tenders will be floated soon to find a suitable agency.”

Noida Authority officials said on Wednesday they will be ready with the outline plan for the demolition process by October 12.

The Authority is preparing the bid document with the help of the Roorkee-based Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) and will float tenders next week. To oversee the entire process, a seven-member committee has been constituted that includes an additional CEO and senior officials from the engineering and planning divisions.

In the coming days, the Noida Authority will also take the RWA of Emerald Court on board to discuss the safety parameters and procedure to be followed for the exercise. Officials said they will also write to the Supertech Group and take detailed drawings of the twin towers along with the maps for an understanding of structural details, construction material and other points.

Additional CEO Neha Sharma said, “We are hopeful of demolishing the twin towers before November 30. CBRI has told us that Indian companies have the expertise of handling the demolition exercise. Tenders will be floated soon to find a suitable agency.”

CBRI has sought time TILL October 11 to prepare the detailed plan for bringing down the towers. Cost estimates will be also mentioned. Supertech will have to bear the cost of the demolition as well as transportation of debris from the site.

General secretary of the RWA, Pankaj Verma, said, “We will share the concerns of the residents who stay in the vicinity of the twin towers with the Noida Authority. We are also going to depute a civil engineer who will coordinate with the authority and suggest measures that could minimise the impact of the implosion.”

The residents will also appeal to the Authority to add cost estimates for measures required for ensuring protocols for structural and environmental safety are followed, keeping in mind concerns of families staying within the same residential block.
