T.Y. Lin International Wins DED Bid for Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge

T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), an infrastructure consulting firm, has announced receipt of a bid to provide Detailed Design Engineering (DED) for the new Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge in the Philippines.

T.Y. Lin International (TYLI), an infrastructure consulting firm, has announced receipt of a bid to provide Detailed Design Engineering (DED) for the new Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge in the Philippines.

This $59m contract was awarded to a joint venture of TYLI and Pyunghwa Engineering Consultants, which will work with Switzerland-based Renardet and the Philippines-based DCCD Engineering Corporation.

This project features a 32.15km-long, four-lane, cable-stayed bridge, which will cross the Manila Bay and connect Barangay Alas-asin in Mariveles, Bataan, and Barangay Timalan, Naic, Cavite.

The Detailed Design Engineering phase for the bridge will be conducted over the next 15 months.

Led by the project owner, the Philippines government, and to be implemented by the country’s Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge Project is being developed with funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

This project includes the construction of two cable-stayed navigation bridges – the North Channel Bridge and South Channel Bridge, with main spans of 400m and 900m, respectively.

The Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge will help to cut down the current travel time between the provinces of Bataan and Cavite from five hours to 30 minutes or less and ease traffic congestion in Manila.

TYLI senior vice president and technical director for bridge line of business Marwan Nader said: “T.Y. Lin International is honoured to provide the Detailed Engineering Design of the Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge.

“The new signature bridge will provide a vital transportation corridor for the Philippines, driving new economic growth for the country while reducing drive times for its citizens.”
