The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has initiated an e-Khata campaign every Friday from 3pm to 6pm to facilitate the public in accessing services without any difficulties. This initiative follows public dissatisfaction regarding the delays in the issuance of e-Khatas, which have been attributed to various technical problems, particularly server and login issues, since the beginning of June.

Within the MCC jurisdiction, there are approximately 1.7 lakh properties, and as of June 3, around 45,000 e-Khatas have been issued.

We aim to issue at least 1 lakh e-Khatas by the conclusion of this financial year,” stated Shaikh Tanveer Asif, the MCC commissioner. He noted that the city corporation is committed to ensuring that citizens receive their e-Khatas without complications. We take complaints regarding delays in service delivery very seriously, he added.

In the meantime, both the public and real estate stakeholders have expressed their frustration over the delays in e-Khata issuance, attributing these issues to technical difficulties faced by civic agencies in and around Mysuru over the past month.

They emphasize that the postponement in timely e-Khata issuance has caused a significant halt in the real estate sector. Residents have pointed out that the primary issue lies in inadequate preparedness. “The communications from officials in Bengaluru are not reaching those at the revenue offices. They are unaware of the changes in regulations. When we urge them to issue the e-Khata promptly, they attribute the delays to server problems,” remarked Sundar Rajan, a resident of Basaveshwara Road.

The situation is even more dire in other urban bodies surrounding the city. The state government must provide training to employees regarding the regulations. It is essential that all updates to the rules are communicated effectively to the officials on the ground, he concluded.

The president of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) Mysuru chapter, Shrihari D, along with BS Prashanth, the president of the Federation of Organisations and Associations of Mysuru (FOAM), expressed that obtaining an e-Khata for a property has turned into an arduous endeavor, prompting them to address the matter with the relevant agencies.

Individuals who are in urgent need to sell their properties are encountering numerous difficulties in acquiring the e-Khata. The real estate sector has effectively come to a halt due to the delays in the issuance of e-Khatas, stated Prashanth.
